Our school is proud to be part of the Green Schools international education programme on the environment. At a national level, in Ireland, the Green Schools programme is overseen by An Taisce. At a local level, schools work in partnership with local authorities and local community groups and agencies.
In Sunday’s Well Girls’ National School, we are proud to be successful participants in the Green Schools programme. It effectively supports our school’s policies and practices re promoting pupil awareness of the importance of valuing and protecting the environment. Through their engagement with the Green Schools programme, our pupils learn how to lessen negative environmental impact through the use of sustainable and practical measures around waste management and energy consumption etc.

Being part of the Green Schools programme encourages our pupils to feel a sense of personal pride and responsibility around protecting the environment and reducing unsustainable fuel and water consumption. In addition, our schools ongoing participation in Green School initiatives enables our children to learn skills and values which allow them to positively contribute to school life and their wider community.
